Interim Chief Commander of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps: “Iran can cut off the energy stream to Europe”

While tension about the Islamic Republic’s nuclear issue is increasing, the interim Chief Commander of the powerful Iranian Revolutionary Guards declared yesterday that Iran could cut off the energy line to Europe and hit the foreigner “conspirators” in any place.

Hossein Salami, interim Commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, said: “Iran is sitting on 50% of the European energy sources. If we wish, Europe would have a cold winter.”

According to Fars news agency, Salami – who was talking during a manifestation of the voluntary paramilitary Basij organization in the city of Kerman – also stated: “We can cut off the energy stream to Europe and use our rackets to hit the conspirators in any place. Now our rackets can reach and hit the enemy anywhere we would want to.”

Those words were spoken while Western countries have increased their pressure on Iran to stop enriching uranium. Iran has been denying the request of the United Nations Security Council to stop its nuclear developments.

On Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei, leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said: “The great powers did not succeed in realizing their political agenda in the case of the Iranian nuclear issue and we will go on developing our nuclear technology as far as we consider this necessary.” Talking for a group of Iranian ambassadors and technocrats of the Iranian ministry of Foreigner Affairs, he added: “Despite the huge pressure we have been confronted with, the lies that have been spread out about us and the scandal that has been tried to make, the great powers did not succeed in pushing through their agenda in the case of Islamic Republic nuclear activities. This shows how powerful, self-confident and determined the Islamic Republic of Iran is. The propaganda of the United States, England and the Zionist regime are all lies and those lies will cause them great damage.”
