In a gathering with representatives of the reformist opposition, Ayatollah Rafsanjani has stressed his worries about the current clashes within different fractions of the Islamic Republic. “The rift should be repaired, and Ayatollah Khamenei is the central figure who can bring people closer together again.”
Rafsanjani also stressed the importance of the role of parliament for the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khomeini: “The Imam said that parliament has to be on the side of the head of the state. That was not an empty slogan: it shows how important the choice of the people was to the Imam.”
